If The Shoe Fits – Raise It

If the Shoe Fits…Raise It

If you are looking for a fun activity to do during your reception between courses or during dessert that will entertain your guests? Try the following:

The Pregame

Have the maid of honor, best man, or other member of the bridal party create a list of 15-20 simple questions for which the bride and groom will pick them self or their partner as the answer to. For instance:

Who says I love you more in 1 day?

Who is first to make up after a fight?

Who started the fight in the first place?

Who does the most cleaning?

Who wears the pants in the relationship?

The questions should be PG -rated and light hearted, but should elicit some fun results based on the answers.

The Set Up

Have the game’s creator work out a time with the Chicago Wedding DJ to conduct the game. A great time for this type of activity is during dessert preceding the formality dances. You want to keep it brief so that people do not lose interest (5-7 minutes is a good ball park). You do not want to infringe on dancing, so this is definitely something to do during dessert or at an appropriate time between courses. Getting the guests laughing and discovering some interesting quirks about the newlyweds is a great transition into the dancing portion of the evening.

Have the DJ place 2 chairs in the center of the dance floor back to back. TIP: Make sure the photographer is aware of this game. The DJ will make an announcement for the groom to remove one of the bride’s shoes and then one of his. Each of them should have one of their own shoes and one of their partner’s shoes in their hands.

The Execution

Have the DJ or the game organizer begin to read the questions. The couple should raise the shoe representing the person they feel best answers the question. For instance, “Who is in control of the remote control?” Again, they are back to back, all of the fun is that they do not know what their partner is answering. The groom may raise his shoe and the bride may raise hers resulting in a good laugh from your guests.  Matching answers always result in a nice round of applause.

To bring down the house with a nice “Awwwww”, the last question should be: “Who do you love most in the world?” Hopefully, the bride raises the groom’s shoe and the groom raises the bride’s shoe. A perfect match!
