Wedding Mistakes

We usually give brides tips on what TO do but today let’s go over some wedding mistakes to avoid! These aren’t deal breakers or bad etiquette but they are trends in 2017 that you may want to skip.

First, we can stop naming drinks. It was cute a few years ago but we’re getting tired of “Dantini” or “Georgeorita”. A signature drink can be fun but this year it’s time to stop the witty bar banter. You can feel free to serve artisan drinks, seasonal cocktails and top shelf liquor but we’d stay away from cutesy names.

Another wedding mistake is the “rustic” wedding. This theme of rustic can mean anything from twine, painted tree branches, burlap napkins to tee-pees and dream catchers. These elements can be fun but they are often not representative of the bride and groom. They hire a wedding planner and end up with kitschy instead of elegant. Unless you and your fiance are very much into living in tee-pees or want a barn ceremony then you might be best looking into more “mountain elegant” rather than call it rustic. The boho theme is also a trend that is on it’s way out – it goes hand in hand with “rustic” because it uses the same outdoorsy, hippie vibes.

Lastly, a wedding mistake to avoid is the clown car full of your bridal party. We know you have a hundred best friends but they don’t ALL need to be in the party car to the ceremony or reception! The focus needs to be on you the bride and your fiance. It’s fun to have all the important people in your life celebrate the day with you but leave the bigger crowds for the reception. The day goes fast but you can make time to greet and talk with guests at the reception.

So, once again, these aren’t faux pas but they are some wedding mistakes to think about. You can certainly do whatever you feel is best for your style and bridal party!

Spring Trends

Brides to be spring trends are right around the corner! You may think it’s too late to be shopping for a dress if your wedding in the spring but not if it’s the right one. Spring trends 2017 are fabulous and here are some examples of what we’re seeing.

The first is dare to bare. We are seeing quite a bit of off the shoulder styles this year. This style embraces the bold bride – one who is unafraid to be sexy but tasteful. Off the shoulder is a great choice for those who want to show some skin but remain classy.

This style is sexy and romantic! It’s seen in both dramatic fashion or minimal.

Another spring trend we’re seeing are big bows! Use these decorative statement pieces to up the drama on your dress. They can be used as a show-stopping back bow or attached to jewelry. Bows can also be added to bridesmaids dresses for accents. Spring trends demand that the bows be used either a big, bold piece or a demure, sweet bow if that’s more your personality.

And why not try a bow with some color?

Spring trends this year are a fun way to celebrate your wedding day. We are seeing a shift for bolder brides and there’s no shame in that! No matter your style for this spring trend we are loving the lavish bows and daring shoulders – dare to be different and make a statement on your big day!

A second wedding trend 2017 we’re seeing is elaborate entrances! Go wild with over the top decor and impress guests on their way to the reception. You can organize a flash mob with your wedding party, arrive in a helicopter or boat, arrive in a shower of rose petals or stage a grand entrance in your venue! The possibilities are endless. You can even think about using unique entertainment at your reception like a fire starters!

And finally for wedding trends 2017 we are seeing a rise in destination weddings! Try getting away from your hometown and go someplace exotic like California, Hawaii, Alaska or anywhere that’s out of the norm. You can also try off the beaten path places like Italy or Iceland.
