Bridal Gown Options
Some of brides have fantasized about their wedding dress for years. They think about the details of the bodice, train, or fullness of skirt, and sometimes it’s hard to live up the expectations in their heads. However, there are many sources to find your dream dress without breaking the bank, try these bridal gown options.
1) Consider a Used Wedding Dress
This can be a great option because you’re dealing directly with the seller, you
can negotiate the price.
A drawback with this option could be that you’re dealing with an individual as opposed to a business, so you must be prepared for the unpredictability. Some sites such as Pre-Owned Wedding dresses or Bravo Bride let you search the database based upon fit, type, designer, etc. You can also be a seller or a buyer on each site. Things to keep in mind when purchasing an already worn gown:
– Can you Skype? We’ve seen sellers who will Skype with long-distance buyers to
show them the dress.
– What are the measurements? Nearly every wedding dress is altered, and a previously-altered dress won’t match the size label. If it’s a sample size, they tend to run smaller than street sizes.
– Was the dress cleaned after use? How? Did the original wearer get anything on it?
2) Check out Sample Sales
Consider a local sample sales and trunk show at your bridal salons and department stores. We can also recommend charity sales —Brides Against Breast Cancer hosts trunk shows across the country featuring donated new and used
gowns, and proceeds fulfill wishes for terminal breast cancer patients. Encorebridal.com, which has a mix of both new and used dresses, donates to cervical cancer for each gown sold.
3) Take Advantage of Seasonal Sales
Last-season sales offer deep discounts. Many bridal shops sell last season’s designs or even the store’s fitting sample at discounts of 30 percent or more.
4) Run, Bride, Run
Run with the brides. Yes, Filene’s Basement made it famous, but some other retailers now also host wedding gown
sale days where brides and their bridesmaids try to elbow out other teams to snag designer dresses for a song.
5) Have your dress made
Check into local dress shops and seamstresses who make wedding gowns. They can emulate a gown you admire, or
you can combine features from several you like and the price, though not rock bottom, will be lower than that of a designer gown.
Hopefully, with these bridal gown options, you find your perfect dress!
