How To: Choose Your Wedding Color Scheme

How To: Choose Your Wedding Color Scheme

Often couples choose a trending color for their wedding color scheme. When wedding planning, there are no wrong choices. However, we do have some suggestions to choose your wedding colors in a different way. Trending colors come and go, but if you choose a color scheme that is so ‘you’, it’ll be timeless & unique. Here are five steps to choose a color scheme that is ‘you’!

First, Narrow Down Your Top Colors And Use A Layout App To Put Colors Together.

Start looking at color options. Then narrow down some of your favorites. Afterward, ensure all colors and textures knit together cohesively by using a layout app. You want to ensure the flowers, ties, suits, dresses, & shoes coordinate.

Second, Instead Of A Trending Color, Think Of Colors That Are ‘You’.

Next, from all those options think about which options are very ‘you’ and nix the excess options. We all can easily tell the year most weddings were by the color of wedding they chose. Navy, blush, burgundy, & gray/blue are all beautiful trending colors that have been widely used. That being said, if you love to wear black every day, black can be a great color for your bridesmaids. You do not have to choose a trending color. If you have a favorite color, say green, that is a color choice you know you’ll love for years to come. Choose colors that can complement each other and reflect your personal style.

Third, Check With Bridesmaids & Groomsmen Attire Designers To Ensure Your Colors Are Possible.

This is often a step brides/grooms forget. Not every designer has fabric in every shade of color you can imagine. Some colors are rotated in and out by year. So before you announce your color scheme; ensure it’s easily accessible to your bridal party. It’s not worth going on a wild goose chase for a color that doesn’t exist. That being said, there are hundreds of color options. You are sure to find at least one of your favorites from step two that you love.

Fourth, Gather Your Decor Ideas.

Now that you’ve narrowed down your colors, choosing coordinating decor is your next job.  When choosing decor you can use one of the coordinating colors you may have eliminated to be a pop of color, contrasting with your bridal party color. Looking at your wedding decor options will also help you solidify your overall color scheme as you keep in mind your venue and wedding flowers.

Fifth, Put It All Together.

You’ve chosen your ‘you’ color, found your bridal party’s attire, and put together your decor ideas and pops of color! Now it’s time to put it all together. At this point, it helps to print everything out so you can see it on paper. You can cut out pictures from magazines, or just print out the final version of the layout we discussed. Then you can present your scheme to your vendors so they can help you bring your ‘you’ wedding color scheme vision to life!

Ultra Violet Wedding

What is the color of the year you may ask? We answer: Ultra Violet! Brides, this year this blue based purple hue is very in and we have some creative ways to use it.

  1. Reception decoration : Ultra Violet is a versatile color and perfect for spring or summer weddings. The deep blue base could also work well for fall. We love using flowers with this shade for your reception center pieces. Tree peonies, ranunculus, and heirloom garden roses can come in this pretty shade. We also love using Ultra Violet for ribbons on the back of chairs with decorative clips or table runners.

2. Add Ultra Violet to your cake. Most people think of wedding cake as white so why not accent it with beautiful purple blossoms or a geode effect? We love that this color can not only be used an accent but also as a main color.

3. Your wedding party. If you’re a daring bride you may even wear the color yourself but it also looks great on bridesmaids and groomsmen! We love the pop of elegant violet against a handsome tux or suit. It’s a great shade for skin types as well. You can still give your bridesmaids a choice in the style of dress but the color will unite your wedding party.

No matter what you choose to do with Ultra Violet it’s a great color that it very hot right now! We know you’ll be seeing a lot of this hue in weddings this spring and summer!

2017 Color

It’s that time – pick a 2017 color scheme! Every bride has certain colors she loves or knows that flatter her (and her bridesmaids we hope!) Color scheme can be simple from one over all color to having five. Color accentuates you and your groom’s personalities or traditions or can be just fun to play around with.

Natural, white and green is one of the top 2017 color schemes this year.

For this color scheme you are electing to go very garden/natural and it fits a wedding in the spring or summer! Pairing a bold green with two neutral colors makes your wedding palette pop. You can choose from hundreds of shades of green and beige to find the one that fits your style the most.

Another 2017 color scheme is mauve and gray.

For this color wheel you can be a bit more romantic. There are also a lot of varieties of purple and gray you can choose from. A deep purple for bridesmaid dresses to light gray suites for the groomsmen. Purple can even run as light as pink as shown above and pink can help bring together the more bold purples.

A third 2017 color scheme is navy, gold and coral. These are definitely more preppy colors but they also make great statements!

This color scheme can work if you’re on the coast or in the Midwest – it gives the wedding feel a classy, beachy sense. We love the pops of coral with the navy blue. Again, there are hundreds of blues you can choose from and the darker shade also makes it more masculine if your groom is worried about the wedding being to girly! Gold is always an elegant staple color and goes well with everything. What bride doesn’t want more gold to accessorize with?

No matter your style choices have fun picking out a color theme for your wedding!

Perfect Palette

Choosing the Picture Perfect Palette
Aubergine. Blush. Aqua. Charcoal. Apricot. Navy. So many colors so little time. Determining the colors of your
wedding palette play into much more than one would assume. As we’ve discussed before, a theme carries throughout a wedding day, and your color palette should as well. So, what things should you consider when choosing a perfect palette for your wedding day? We have a few ideas!
Time of Year
It’s important to consider the season when choosing wedding colors. For example, would you pick hot pink and lush
green in the dead of winter? Or how about a burnt orange and mocha during spring? That isn’t to say you can’t do these things but it is helpful to have a perfect palette to blend things together.  This doesn’t mean you’re stuck with prissy pinks or greens just because it’s spring, but you can consider Mother Nature as a helper that can somewhat dictate the perfect palette.

Perfect Combo
It’s nice to consider colors that you both find equally pleasing. Keep in mind your palette can be many more than just
two or three. Choosing shades that lift your mood and you are drawn to make the most sense. Trust your gut!
Consider the setting
Look at the colors your venue has. Do you absolutely love the gold embellishments on the door handles or chandeliers? Using metallic colors like gold, champagne, etc will bring these adornments out. If your venue has
white and black carpeting, fixtures, etc keeping with that theme and adding pops of color such as red, purple, pink, or any other inspirational shade!
Create an Inspiration Board
A color wheel or picking out images that you find inspirational can be your first step to helping guide you through
picking the perfect palette. There are many tools out there that can help including:
Finding the right balance and complimentary colors is what to keep in mind. If color matching isn’t your thing, then you can always consult a wedding coordinator or stylist. Friends are always a helpful sounding board as well! They can help you choose your perfect palette for your wedding day!
Fourth of July Wedding

Fourth of July Wedding

Fourth of July Wedding

The Fourth of July not only celebrates our great nation’s independence, but it also marks the middle of summer for so many Americans. For those of us who endured the “Polar Vortex” that midpoint is arriving all too soon. But as anyone knows, no matter what your locale, The Fourth really is all about quintessential summer fun, perfect weather, and of course long weekends. We know so many couples use this time to share their special day with guests, but here are just a few other great reasons why this holiday is a perfect time to say “I do.”

It has it’s own color scheme! Nothing is more patriotic and brightly colored than that American flag. Carrying through that theme alone with flag food pics and miniature flags lining the lawn, and also scattered in planters just screams festive. The primary color scheme is bold enough that white linens and chairs and very minimal décor is almost essential, saving so many time and money on florals and over-fussy tablescapes. Pairing the red, white, and blue with lush white hydrangea ( perfect for July!) and oversized white roses takes the entire affair to an elegant and timeless place. Adding lanterns with large pillar candles is also a great, Americana way to focus attention on the main theme.

Sparklers! We all love that classic black and white shot of the Bride and Groom leaving the reception with throngs of guests lining their path with sparklers. The illuminating effect is so beautiful that they often make the best shots of the night. But for the Fourth of July, that already requires sparklers as a tradition, it ties right into the whole wedding vibe and are readily available. Not only that, but they are a super affordable addition!

Hello, Fireworks! This one is a no-brainer. While other couples getting married pretty much any other weekend are spending a small fortune for a custom fireworks show, yours is on the house. Whether the venue already has their own or you are close to a municipality that provides one, it’s pretty much impossible to miss the sky light show that night.
