Elle Taylor Photography

Our Vendor Spotlight: Engagement & Wedding Photographer, is featuring Elle Taylor Photography this month. Elle Taylor is a local wedding & engagement photographer in the Chicagoland area. Elle Taylor Photography’s style is beautiful, bright natural light photography. She loves bringing couples’ love stories to life in her photos. Elle also loves light pink and her puppy. Trust us, you want to learn more about Elle Taylor Photography and her beautiful photos. Because of this, we’ve interviewed Elle so she can tell you about herself and answer your wedding planning questions!

1.What is your favorite part of  being an engagement and wedding photographer?

My favorite thing about shooting engagements and weddings is the relationships I’m able to make with my couples. They’re all SO sweet, and I am genuinely so excited to meet them/see them again when I photograph their engagement sessions and wedding days. I always leave with a full heart (and full memory cards, haha!)

2. What attire or clothing advice do you give couples when they plan their engagement photos with Elle Taylor Photography?

When planning for engagement photos, I send each one of my couples an in-detail outfit planning guide with my favorite tips and tricks for coordinating outfits, my favorite stores to purchase clothing for their “formal” looks and their more “casual” looks. I also send them tons of inspiration photos from other couples’ outfit choices to help show what outfits will look like when paired together for their photos. The most important thing I tell me couples to remember is to make sure that they’re comfortable in the outfits they choose because if their uncomfortable, it’ll show in the photos.

3. Is there an experience you’ve had while photographing an engagement or wedding that you will never forget?

This is such a hard question because I leave the majority of my engagement sessions and weddings with my face hurting from laughing so much with my couples. I could never forget any of them, but there is definitely one shoot that I will never, ever forget. After one of my shoots this past summer, I got engaged!! My fiance (boyfriend at the time) had been setting everything up while I was at the shoot, and he surprised me later that night 🙂 Best day ever!

Ideas for Announcing your Engagement

Ideas for Announcing your Engagement

It’s the Holiday season and we have ideas for announcing your engagement! The holidays are a great time to tell family and friends your big news. It’s called the most wonderful time of the year so why not combine that with spreading the word about the engagement.

  1. We love the idea of surprising family. At a Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner you could have guests write what they are thankful for on a leaf or festive paper. Then, at dinner, they can all read them a loud. Making yours about the engagement will be just the hint they need!

2.  Going out for pre-dinner drinks. If you and your new fiance don’t want all the attention at a family gathering consider going out for drinks and appetizers the night before. That way you don’t have the big announcement about your engagement putting pressure on the dinner. You can tell everyone at a local bar or favorite restaurant. You should be relaxed and enjoy telling people the news, not stressed and anxious about wedding planning.

3. We love taking a group photo as a reveal too! In the selfie age we don’t think it’ll be a problem to get everyone to agree to taking a picture. You can gather all the family and/or friends and as the picture is about to be taken hold up a sign that says “Save the Date” or “We’re engaged”. See who notices afterwards! If people are not noticing through their holiday drinking phase post the picture on social media.

4. Finally, we love giving gifts to everyone to announce your engagement! It doesn’t have to be big but if it’s near the Christmas season no one will think twice about receiving just a little something extra. We recommend buying one present in bulk like good quality chocolate, cheap cigars or jewelry for women. Inside the gift have a note presenting the save the date or engagement announcement.

How to Use Your Engagement Photos

Nowadays, many couples are getting engagement photos. What exactly should you do with all those great shoots you paid for? Here are a few ideas to get your creative juices flowing.

Save the Dates

If you are sending save the dates, you can use the photos to personalize this classic wedding stationary. One of the most popular options is a magnet featuring a great photo and the wedding date. Magnets are awesome because people are less likely to lose them.

Alternative Guestbook

Instead of a traditional guestbook, you can frame an engagement photo and have guests sign the border. Instead of storing a guestbook in the attic or basement, you can display the signatures on a wall in your home. You could choose your favorite picture to frame or create a collage of photos.

Wedding Website

The internet has changed the face of wedding planning. Now, you create a wedding website to share with friends and family. Engagement photos are great way to showcase your personalities and love for each other on the site.

Table Numbers

While taking your engagement photos, include props that feature numbers. You can then frame the photos to use as table numbers.

Gifts

Parents, and other relatives or close friends, love pictures. Most people give a wedding photo as a gift, but you could also frame and wrap one of those gorgeous engagement photos.

Decorate

Modern couples love to personalize their wedding events. Use the engagement photos to decorate the bridal shower, rehearsal dinner, ceremony site, or reception venue.
