Seven Arrows Poster Invites.  We love a classic, simple invite as much as the next person, but we also love when couples take a less traditional approach, injecting more fun and color into their invites.  This invitation package from Ladyfingers Letterpress takes the take when it comes to fun.  The bright colors, the mismatched fonts, the pop of yellow in the envelope lining, everything screams, “Come, celebrate, and have a good time with us!”

Kraft Paper Place Settings.  There are lots of different ways to help guests know where to sit.  Placecards, seating charts, table numbers…the list goes on.  But we love the simplicity of these kraft paper table settings.  With brown kraft paper and a simple marker, you’ve got instant place settings.  Even if you’re not doing assigned seating, this is still a great option; just think of fun and celebratory sayings to write or fun facts to share about the couple.  Instant conversation starter!

Sprinkles Cake.  We are firm believers that sprinkles make everything better.  And this cake is the perfect proof.  How can you see this cake and not smile?  The all over sprinkle effect makes a bold statement, and the white bows add a pop of elegance.  This cake is perfect for a fun and spunky couple!

Gown + Tux.  When it comes to fashion, we love the classic look of a black blazer.  Pair it with jeans, pencil skirts, or dresses; it’s hard to go wrong.  However, as much as we love blazers, we have to admit, we don’t think we’ve ever seen the classic closet staple with a wedding dress.  But, after this pin, we are over the moon for the gown and tux pairing.  Everything about this look works!  And while the black/white combo might not be for everyone, we’re know there are some Chicago brides that could definitely pull off this pairing.

Corn Husk Topper.  We’re not shy about our love for cakes or cake toppers, and this pin is so simple and elegant it takes our breath away.  A simple white cake with a cake topper straight from nature.  Now that fall is here, the leaves are changing, and the temperatures are cooling, we think that now the perfect time to debut this cake.  Simply stunning.

Aisle Markers.  We’ve seen couples decorate ceremony spaces using all sorts of special touches, and aisle markers are one of the most common features of the ceremony space.  Typically aisles are marked with some sort of embellishment on the end chairs, but this pin takes a different approach, marking aisles with floor florals.  The unique placement acts as both row markers as well as an aisle runner, and we love the pop of color sprinkled down the aisle.  The marigold color of these florals is also perfect for fall!

Splatter Watercolor Invitations.  When we first saw this image on Pinterest, it was no more than a two by two square, but even then, we knew it was something special.  And even though the DIY tutorial was technically about how to make a floral party hat (which could be a whole other wedding idea in itself), we fell in love with the idea of translating this splatter watercolor concept into a wedding invitation.  The refined yet colorful technique creates a hint of whimsy, perfect for a fun and festive invitation.  So break out the watercolors, we’re ready to get splattering!

Personalized Cake Stand.  We’ve never been shy about our love for cakes, and to prove it, we’ve got a whole pinboard dedicated to the classic wedding dessert.  So it’s only normal that when we saw this personalized cake stand, we were head over heels in love.  From the pale and lovely color to the sweet, scalloped trim, it is the perfect accessory to make your wedding cake sing.  And the countless options for personalization make this beauty a no-brainer!

Simple Wreaths.  With the holidays “just around the corner,” wintertime wedding DIY projects are popping up all over Pinterest.  And although many of these projects will no doubt be lovely in December, we love stretching many of them to fit the entire year.  These simple wreaths are the perfect example.  Their simple yet elegant look would be perfect hanging from the windows, the ceiling, or a ceremony backdrop.

Vase + Twine.  It seems likes couples are getting more and more creative these days when it comes to DIY décor.  From centerpieces to florals, we love to see how couples turn everyday items into special accessories.  It’s often the simplest of pairings that creates the showstoppers, and this vase plus twine combination is the perfect example.  You can mix and match any glass canisters, filling the finished vases with beautiful vibrant greenery or exotic flowers.

Metallic Cake.  Metallics never seem to go out of style or out of season, but something about the temperature change and the promise of fall has us loving anything and everything shiny.  And this pin, well, it takes the cake!  We love that this metallic cake combines simplicity with a touch of the wow factor, leaving guests curious about their dessert.  If this cake tastes half as good as it looks, then guests are definitely in luck!

Attendant Pavers.  We love when couples opt to celebrate their love with Mother Nature, though we know that the outdoors often comes with its own set of challenges.  One of the most common concerns we hear involves the old grass meets heels dilemma.  No one wants to be sinking into the grass all ceremony.  Thankfully, this pin offers the simplest solution…pavers!  The simple shaped concrete blocks allow each woman to stand sink-free, letting go of any fears or worries about the grass/heels combo.  These pavers offer another bonus as well, as they tell attendants exactly where to stand, so that they remain perfectly placed throughout the ceremony.

Groomsmen Sperry’s.  It’s hard to believe that summer is already winding down, but fall will be taking over the Midwest before we know it.  That being said, we’re soaking up all things summer, and this shot of these groomsmen and their Sperry’s did just the trick.  Footwear is one of the easiest ways for guys to infuse a little fun into their wedding day look, as well increase the overall comfort level for the big day.

Initials Cake Topper.  We’ve seen lots of fabulous cake toppers, and in fact, cake toppers seem to be making a comeback these days.  From fondant figures to vintage ceramic duos, there are tons of options if you want to have a happy couple sitting a top your wedding cake.  But if you want something a bit less traditional, how about these great initials?  From an adorable Etsy site, these letters would finish off any dessert with just the right amount of pizzazz and class.

Black, White, and Gold.  Black and white is a classic color combination, but it doesn’t have to be boring.  And this pin is perfect proof that the classic combination is bigger and better than ever.  With pops of gold and punches of patterns, the classic combo takes on a whole new life, perfect for a celebration to remember.  From the polka dots, to the box, to the gold rings around the candles, we are simply smitten with the fun take on this classic combo.

Drawing Paper Backdrop.  We love to see the creative ways that couples designate the special space where they will say their vows.  From flowers, to fabric, to tree branches, we love to see the unique things couples come up with.  So imagine our delight when we saw this simple yet special drawing paper backdrop.  With a white background and black text, you might expect it to be overly plain, but in our minds, this ceremony space marker is anything but!  We love thinking about how easy this backdrop would be to customize, using favorite song lyrics, sweet poems, special dates to the couple, or even bits and pieces from the couple’s vows.  The possibilities are endless!

Notable Navy.  When we saw this pin, we couldn’t help but love everything about this groom’s look.  Seriously, from the navy, to the bowtie, to the vest, to the anemone boutonnière, what’s not to love?  This look is the perfect example of showcasing a groom’s unique style without straying too far from the classics.

Be Adventurers.  Wedding planning is an adventure in itself, but when you think about it, it’s really just a small step on the journey that couples take together.  So our advice to couples?  Go bold, go big, and go together. Have each other’s back, help one another navigate the tricky spots, and reenergize each other after a long day’s work.  This pin reminds us to be adventurers together on this crazy journey.

Cream Bridesmaid Dresses.  When we think of some of the oldest, most followed pieces of wedding advice, we can’t help but think of “Nobody but the bride wears white.”  And we totally get that advice; a girl’s wedding day is important and she deserves to have a color all to herself.  But once in a while, advice is meant to be ignored, and in this case, we love the outcome!  This bride chose to have her nearest and dearest dress in varying shades and shapes of cream, and the look is nothing short of sweet and spectacular.  (The boots don’t hurt either!)  And even though this bride chose to share her special color, she is still a radiant standout!

Picnic Save the Date Session.  We love to see how couples’ personalities come out in their save the dates, and this shoot is the perfect example.  This couple manages to balance out all the right things, leaving guests with a warm reminder of the love they are about to see united.  From the plaid blanket to the suspended pom poms, we love the relaxed and playful vibe of this shoot.  And ok, let’s be honest, the leaves in the first photo are getting us pretty amped for fall weddings!

Chevron + Sparkles.  Sometimes we see a pin that makes us say, “Yes, yes, YES!”  This was one of those pins.  Chevrons and sparkles.  We’re not sure there is a more amazing combination.  Enough said.

Pinterest: Pins of the Week

This week, we’ve had more than our fair share of fireworks, backyard BBQs, and hotdogs, leaving us thinking about nothing but red, white, and blue.  So in honor of America’s big day, we’re sharing our favorites pins in our three favorite colors!

Bright Red with a Pop of Orange.  Red florals are classic, bright, and vibrant.  Though for some reason, most people tend to picture roses when they think of red flowers.  Yet, we love this festive bouquet, as it uses red to make a statement, sans roses!  Mixed with pops of orange and funky greenery, this bouquet is sure to make a statement for any bride!

Doily Wrapped Invites.  We’ve seen this pin pop up a few times on Pinterest, and every way we see it, we can’t help but swoon at the simple elegance of this look.  Invitations can often be expensive and overwhelming for couples, as there are endless options.  But sometimes simple is best, and this lace and paper combination is the perfect example of this sentiment.  With a package of doilies, some ribbon, and some simple invites, these invitations are an easy DIY for any bride!

Blue Bowtie.  We love the look of a classic bowtie, but when you add a bit of a nontraditional twist, we’re over the moon!  This navy and white polka dot bowtie is perfect for the groom who wants to add a bit of flair without straying too far from a classic look.  We can see this bowtie with a crisp white shirt, a gingham button up, or a classic khaki suit.  It’s hard to go wrong with this blue beauty!

White Hot Reception.  We always love to see the fun and creative ways that couples infuse color into their big day, particularly at the reception where the party really gets going.  We’ve seen some pretty incredible displays of color, utilizing flowers, lights, and linens, but when we saw this all white reception, we couldn’t help but stop and stare.  From the all white linens, flowers, and event lighting, to the clear glassware, beads, and white chair covers, the white makes a bold and beautiful statement.  We imagine that this tablescape would be the backdrop for a very special evening!

Succulent Boutonnières.  Succulents seem to be everywhere this summer, and we are loving it!  Succulents have such as easy elegance to them, though they’re not often the first thing you think of when you think “wedding floral.”  However, these boutonnières have us rethinking succulents.  We absolutely love the burst of color, as well as the understated elegance.  What groom or groomsman wouldn’t love these?

Wedding Party Field Day.  We have seen some pretty cool and creative ways to engage wedding parties, but this pin literally takes the cake!  To help their friends and attendants get to know each other, this bride and groom staged an old school field day to kick off their destination wedding weekend and get their friends laughing.  You have to check out the photos; we guarantee you’ll be smiling and wondering how you can get on the guest list to the next wedding party field day.  Who says elementary school can’t teach us something about love?
