Pins of the Week… Here’s a round up of some of our favorite finds on Pinterest!

Baby Faces: So we’ve seen how adorable table numbers with childhood photos are, but what about extending the child-like theme throughout the wedding? When we saw this lovable pin, we couldn’t help but become overjoyed with nostalgia and think of all the creative ways to use kiddie photos. The face masks are genius and can also double as fans with wedding programs printed on the back for guests to use and keep forever, of course. It also opens up the idea for loads of fun if you are using a photobooth are your reception. Either way, the idea is both fun, functional, and a unique touch that guests will be smiling about for a long time!

Mini Champagne: The mini craze is still on! But this time, we are seeing new takes on miniature snacks and favors for weddings. Using mini bottles as escort cards on a beautifully decorates table and serving fun-sized cans like Sofia champagne with pink straws during cocktail hour is a festive way to put everyone in a great mood. People tend to overlook using gorgeous food and drink as decor, but it is not only functional but completely chic as well! If you are serving a beautiful bottle of win or champagne, why not let that be the centerpiece? Don’t be afraid to draw attention to those special details, especially if you have hand selected drinks for your big day.

Sleeves: It feels as though this week’s pins have a common thread. So many trends that have so much staying power. Sleeves on wedding gowns is one look we have talked about A LOT in the last year, especially since the Royal Wedding where Kate Middleton blew everyone away in delicate lace sleeves in her custom Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen gown. But the new take on sleeves is so stunning, we just had to share. We love seeing a more sultry and modern element to a very traditional look. Cue Kim Karadashian’s recent Givenchy wedding dress that matched high-fashion, a sexy silhouette and an incredibly timeless and romantic Italian lace look. We can’t wait for the weather to cool down and see more brides embrace lace and the long sleeve gown!

Balloon and Floral Arch: Wedding décor has long been associated with the traditional arch, and over the years, the standard structure with 2 paper wedding bells has evolved to fit many types of occasions. From super casual California weddings with sheer fabrics, to over he top white lush floral covered arches that you can only dream of, the look has stayed pretty timeless and open for all kinds of interpretations. The new look? A fun and whimsical mix of sweet, loose florals and bright colorful balloons. It’s economical and oh-so- sweet. Perfect for full arches or strings of décor, this look is a fresh, new alternative to the usual wedding ceremony look.

Olivia Palermo: We often make reference to this New York style staple when talking about new trends fresh from the runway. But this past week, socialite and fashion blogger/editor and former “The City” star wed her longtime love in a totally surprising and of course, insanely chic ensemble that made all of us stop and stare. Her look was a perfectly styled 3 piece combination of cashmere sweater, tailored dress shorts and overlayed tulle skirt all by Carolina Herrera. For a girl who has the entire fashion world watching her every last move, the look was entirely classic and timeless with a fun, modern twist with white wedding shorts. Her hair and makeup were understated and not too contrived ( she even dubbed her hair do as “ an uncontrived ponytail.”) We kind of love that she took the road to simplicity for her walk down the aisle and adored the intimate feel that her crisp, white outfit conveyed.

Woodsy wedding theme: The rustic wedding theme seems to be here to stay and while we love the juxtaposition of elegance meets outdoors, there is a new take on the natural element for wedding themes. The “woodsy” wedding features more of a whimsical and “Midsummer Night’s Dream” feel with patches of moss and bark inspired paper cones for perfectly wrapped appetizers and snacks. The look can be totally topped off with bohemian strung lights and sweet, yet still rustic table linens.

Novelty Bottles: We’ve seen all kinds of fun takes on mini bottles and small sips before, but the upside down corona ( or coronita for the mini version) is absolutely perfect for a summertime soiree.  The presentation is perfect for a fiesta themed engagement party or ultra cool cocktail hour. The best part about this cocktail on our opinion? The idea really molds together 2 separate tastes- unlike signature drinks “for him” and “for her” this take really hits home the idea of both sides coming together. It really is the best of both worlds- and it looks so incredibly refreshing for the summer!Pinterest Pins Of The Week

Specialty Ingredients: So it may seem like we are on a bit of a cocktail kick here ( can you blame us, we’ve been living through a polar vortex the past few months!) But craft cocktails have really become mainstream with new flavors like orange bitters, elderflower, and here a specialty “Lavender Collins.”  A lot of these artisanal compliments are actually being resurrected from really old recipes and mixologists everywhere are bringing them back in the most delicious and visually stunning way possible. This idea would work best in the beginning of the night with a designated amount of drinks pre-made and served with a fun sign telling guests what it is. Since these type of drinks tend to take more time and care than your usual sips, it’s best to limit them.

Silhouette Photography:  We love really well done portraiture and classic candids of you and your groom. We could actually sift through wedding photos all day and not get tired of it! But when it comes to later on down the road, you may want a special more art-like photo to hang in your home the really captures the moment and feel but maybe isn’t so “in your face,” so to speak. Silhouette shots are perfect for just that. They really captured the timelessness and romanticism of the day and are absolutely incredible done in black and white.

#Hashtag your wedding

We should have seen this coming. And this year at the Golden Globes, with their social media “correspondant” documenting the whole night on twitter and instagram, we watch a new phenomenon take hold. “Hashtagging” your wedding only seems like the next major life event to make available for following on instagram and twitter and the rest of the social media galaxy. The fun part is that l of those candid amateur photos ( which sometimes turn out to be the very best) can collectively find themselves in the same spot. Super easy for the bride and groom to check out later on after the party and also a great way to include your guests who LOVE taking pics. #thatsprettycool. [pinit]

Petit Fours

We love when couples form a new twist on the classic wedding cake. The new craze is a small cake topper layer with cascading levels of small petit fours. Petit fours are small ( get it, petite?) pick up pastries that are frosted on all sides making them the perfect mini bite for decorating. They already on their own look like little gifts and like anything else can be customized to carry through whatever your theme may be. Where there was once cupcakes, and more cupcakes, we are seeing an even older tradition, petit fours make a major comeback and it couldn’t be sweeter. [pinit]

Build a Bar

Okay now this one is something you have to see to believe.  The ultimate in interactive for your guests and probably where you will find the guys at your wedding hanging out all night long. A DIY bar bearing the names of each tap of beer and with the intended serve yourself approach. We’ve been seeing wine dispensers for awhile now and it didn’t take long for kegs of beer to now become fashionable with a do-it-yourself dispensary for weddings. This is perfect for the true beer lover and makes a perfect station that can be complimentary to your wedding décor. Cheers! [pinit]

Big Balloons: We’ve been seeing this trend for awhile in small doses. Dessert table queen Amy Atlas wowed us with her monochromatic take on sweets with coordinating extra large balloons attached to her table. But balloons are taking over for real now with less emphasis on florals and total whimsy with these giant childhood favorites stealing the show and acting as centerpieces and focal points.  And there’s really no limit to colors and styles- AND prices! BHLDN makes some uber fancy golden and metallic ones with ultra plush add -ons, but you can also find DIY tutorials, some serious steals on ETSY and wholesale finds from sites like Event Décor Direct. Some of calling them Geronimo balloons, but in reality they are just super sized latex balloons that need lots of helium and are making a huge statement.  The coolest part? They can be customized with over the top fancy tassels and double as wedding photo props. They’re adorable and in bulk make a massive statement, literally. See ‘blackboard decor’ here.

chicago cotton candyCotton Candy Accessorizing: We knew earlier this week, when we covered local vendor Spin Spun, that cotton candy was definitely all the rage. But Colin Cowie took it to a whole new level on Pinterest with this dream- like presentation of cocktail hour with cotton candy glass toppers.  You can imagine our surprise when we also found this photo in the latest Martha Stewart Weddings Magazine. Try it on in small doses since it seems a bit labor intensive. We are thinking engagement party or bridal shower. Either way, the look is fabulous and sure to induce lots of chatter.

Floral Envelope Liners: Lining envelopes has long been a highly sought after trend of the upscale stationary lovers, and now the look has become even more fun and also more accessible.  For those with a big budget and even bigger imagination, you can custom line your envelopes in almost any pattern or design. We especially love the idea of a floral, almost wallpaper-inspired design for the upcoming Spring. We also adore what companies like the always whimsical Cherie Berry are doing with vintage prints and initials. And for those brides who are looking to save a few bucks? Lining your own has never been easier! Buying the paper in bulk or even printing your own on a laser jet printer can save you tons and with a little time and the right adhesive can look just as good!Modern Elegant Wedding Invitation
