Wedding Reception Add-Ons

A new trend we’ve been loving is wedding reception add-ons! Wedding reception add-ons are unique options you can add to your wedding reception, usually food or activity related. These options add extra fun and uniqueness to your wedding. If you want your wedding to stand out from the rest, here are some fun, and yummy, wedding reception add-ons to inspire you!

#1 A Lemonade Stand

If your wedding is during warm weather this is a great add-on idea for you! You could do different flavors of lemonade or iced tea. You can also add fruit to your lemonade/tea options. This is a refreshing way to keep guests cool and happy.

#2 A Donut Stand

Who doesn’t love donuts? Donuts come in all flavors and designs from classic to gourmet. If you love dessert or just want an extra fun snack for your wedding donuts are the in choice; and delicious. The donut displays are equally as unique as the donut options. You could add the donuts around your cake, or you can even have a wooden donut display. The sky’s the limit if you love donuts!

#3 Coffee Bar

Do you love coffee? If you don’t want sleepy guests on the dance floor, choose a coffee bar! You can have a signature drink, or have options for your guests. So many people are coffee-obsessed, so this option has become very popular. Also, coffee pairs very well with desserts.

#4 A Photo Booth

There are many fun ways to do a photo booth. You can make it in to a guest book by using the photos for the guest book. It even works as a wedding favor so the guests can take their keepsake photos with them. Who doesn’t love taking funny photos with props with your friends? This fun activity is great for a break from the dance floor, or right after dinner before dancing.

#5 Graham’s Homemade Ice Cream Bars

Graham’s in Geneva, Illinois will provide their homemade ice cream at your wedding reception! Their chocolate is to die for and their ice cream is like the cherry on top! Your guests will talk about these desserts for years!

Three Ways to Make Your Rehearsal Dinner Memorable

Traditionally, a rehearsal dinner is a formal event including the wedding party and close family. Normally, it features a fancy dinner, dress clothes, and a few speeches. Basically, almost all rehearsal dinners are the same, but yours can be more unique. Here are three ways to make your rehearsal dinner fun and memorable.

Rethink the Food

Rehearsal dinners often take place at a fancy restaurant, which is nice if that is your style, but there are plenty of other options. When choosing a restaurant and menu, consider your personality and the mood you want to set. Some fun options include home-style BBQ, Chinese food, or a DIY Mexican bar.

Play Some Games

The rehearsal dinner should be an excuse to party and celebrate. Don’t be afraid to include some fun games. Again, consider your personality and the mood you want to set. Some fun options include beer pong or the newlywed game. You can make this extra fun by turning the games into a battle of the sexes.

Decorate

Just because you are having the rehearsal dinner at a restaurant, doesn’t mean you can’t decorate. Some options include fun centerpieces, lights, pictures, and favors. You may choose to coordinate the decorations with your wedding theme or you could choose a unique theme just for the occasion.

If The Shoe Fits – Raise It

If the Shoe Fits…Raise It

If you are looking for a fun activity to do during your reception between courses or during dessert that will entertain your guests? Try the following:

The Pregame

Have the maid of honor, best man, or other member of the bridal party create a list of 15-20 simple questions for which the bride and groom will pick them self or their partner as the answer to. For instance:

Who says I love you more in 1 day?

Who is first to make up after a fight?

Who started the fight in the first place?

Who does the most cleaning?

Who wears the pants in the relationship?

The questions should be PG -rated and light hearted, but should elicit some fun results based on the answers.

The Set Up

Have the game’s creator work out a time with the Chicago Wedding DJ to conduct the game. A great time for this type of activity is during dessert preceding the formality dances. You want to keep it brief so that people do not lose interest (5-7 minutes is a good ball park). You do not want to infringe on dancing, so this is definitely something to do during dessert or at an appropriate time between courses. Getting the guests laughing and discovering some interesting quirks about the newlyweds is a great transition into the dancing portion of the evening.

Have the DJ place 2 chairs in the center of the dance floor back to back. TIP: Make sure the photographer is aware of this game. The DJ will make an announcement for the groom to remove one of the bride’s shoes and then one of his. Each of them should have one of their own shoes and one of their partner’s shoes in their hands.

The Execution

Have the DJ or the game organizer begin to read the questions. The couple should raise the shoe representing the person they feel best answers the question. For instance, “Who is in control of the remote control?” Again, they are back to back, all of the fun is that they do not know what their partner is answering. The groom may raise his shoe and the bride may raise hers resulting in a good laugh from your guests.  Matching answers always result in a nice round of applause.

To bring down the house with a nice “Awwwww”, the last question should be: “Who do you love most in the world?” Hopefully, the bride raises the groom’s shoe and the groom raises the bride’s shoe. A perfect match!
